In accordance with the terms of a contract signed on 18 March 2008, the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein awarded the design, construction, financing and operation of a particle-therapy center in Kiel to the ?Partikeltherapiezentrum Kiel GmbH & Co. KG? project company owned by Bilfinger Berger Project Investments and Siemens Project Ventures as part of a public-private partnership project (PPP project). The period of operation will be 25 years. The project is one of the biggest public-private partnerships in the German health-care sector.
With this PPP project, the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein and the project company is pursuing the goal of opening up a comprehensive range of treatments in cancer therapy and research with a new type of competence center for tumor patients from 2012 onwards. After completion of the building, around 3,000 patients will be treated and cared for with particle therapy at this facility annually.
HSG Zander?s range of services during the period of operation includes technical, infrastructural and commercial facility management.
